What are Smart B-roll Suggestions?​

Smart B-roll Suggestions is an AI-assisted workflow inside the Video Studio → Assets step.

It automatically finds and curates relevant stock footage based on your:

  • video topic
  • script content
  • tone and language
  • orientation and format settings

Instead of manually guessing keywords, ReelBot analyzes intent and visual meaning, then suggests B-roll that fits the story you’re telling.

Manual search is always available.
Smart suggestions are an enhancement, not a requirement.

Why Smart B-roll exists​

Manual stock search is fragile:

  • keywords are often vague
  • results are repetitive or off-context
  • creators spend more time searching than creating

Smart B-roll is designed to:

  • reduce guesswork
  • surface more meaningful visuals
  • speed up asset selection
  • preserve creative control

It turns context into visuals.

How Smart B-roll works​

Smart B-roll runs in three clear phases.

1. Context-aware analysis​

When triggered, ReelBot analyzes:

  • your topic
  • your script
  • selected tone
  • content language
  • project orientation (vertical, square, horizontal)

Using this context, the AI:

  • generates visual search descriptions (not generic keywords)
  • identifies negative keywords to avoid irrelevant styles
  • adapts phrasing to the selected language

2. Automated search and reranking​

ReelBot then:

  • runs multiple parallel searches against the Pexels public library
  • gathers a broad set of candidate videos
  • filters results to strictly match your project’s orientation

A second AI pass evaluates candidates against:

  • script meaning
  • mood and pacing
  • visual relevance

The best matches are selected and ranked.

3. Curated results with reasoning​

The final output includes:

  • up to 12 curated videos
  • a short explanation for each suggestion
    (e.g. “Matches upbeat mood”, “Visualizes remote work”)

This makes it easier to understand why a clip fits—before you use it.

Using Smart B-roll Suggestions​

Where to find it​

  1. Open Video Studio
  2. Navigate to the Assets step
  3. Select the Public Library tab
  4. Click Smart Suggestions

Each successful request consumes 3 AI Credits.

Credits are checked before execution.

What happens next​

  • Suggested videos appear in a curated grid
  • Smart search chips appear above the results
  • Manual keyword search remains available at all times

If Smart B-roll fails or returns no results, nothing breaks.
You can continue using manual search immediately.

Smart UI components​

Curated Results Grid​

AI-selected videos are displayed in a responsive grid:

  • 2–3 columns depending on screen size
  • consistent spacing and sizing
  • unified with manual search results

Smart Chips​

Above the grid, ReelBot shows Smart Chips:

  • AI-generated search terms
  • clickable to instantly run a manual search
  • useful for exploring related visual concepts

Smart Chips bridge AI assistance and manual control.

Enhanced video cards (unified design)​

All asset cards—manual or smart—share the same behavior.

Dynamic aspect ratio​

Cards automatically adapt to your project format:

  • Portrait (9:16) → tall cards
  • Square (1:1) → square cards
  • Landscape (16:9) → wide cards

This ensures previews reflect real usage.

Interactive overlays​

Each card includes:

  • Preview – opens a full-size video modal
  • Use – downloads the asset to your library

During download:

  • a loading spinner appears directly on the card
  • the rest of the grid remains usable

Overlay buttons appear only on hover to reduce clutter.

Orientation and format compliance​

Smart B-roll strictly respects your project’s orientation.

Videos that do not match:

  • vertical
  • square
  • horizontal

are automatically excluded.

This prevents unusable assets from appearing later in the flow.

Fallback behavior (important)​

Smart B-roll never blocks creation.

If:

  • AI services are unavailable
  • no suitable assets are found
  • credits are insufficient

ReelBot automatically falls back to manual search.

Your workflow continues uninterrupted.

Notes and limitations​

  • Results depend on the quality of your script and topic
  • Brand safety (logos, faces, on-screen text) is best-effort
  • Smart B-roll suggests visuals—it does not guarantee perfection
