Drafts & Progress Saving
What are drafts?
Drafts allow you to pause and resume video creation without losing progress.
In ReelBot, drafts are created automatically as you work in the Video Studio. You don’t need to manually save anything.
Drafts exist to support:
- interruption-free creation
- flexible work sessions
- batching and iteration
- long or multi-step workflows
How drafts are created
Drafts are saved automatically whenever you:
- enter or update a topic
- generate or edit a script
- generate a voiceover
- select assets or music
- change video settings
Saving happens silently in the background.
There is no “Save Draft” button because drafts are always on.
Leaving and returning to the Video Studio
You can safely:
- navigate away from the Video Studio
- close the browser
- log out and come back later
When you return:
- your draft is restored
- you continue from the last completed step
- previously generated content remains intact
Drafts persist until the project is completed or deleted.
Drafts and multiple projects
You can have:
- multiple drafts at the same time
- one draft per in-progress video
Each draft is tied to:
- a specific video type
- its selected settings
- its partially completed steps
This allows you to work on several ideas in parallel.
Drafts vs projects
Drafts and projects serve different purposes.
Drafts
- temporary
- editable
- incomplete
- tied to the Video Studio
Projects
- permanent
- generated videos
- previewable and downloadable
- eligible for publishing
Once a video is successfully generated:
- the draft is removed
- the project becomes the source of truth
What happens when a project is created
After clicking Generate Video and completing generation:
- the draft is deleted automatically
- all content is stored as a Project
- the Video Studio resets for new creation
This prevents stale or duplicate drafts.
Manually deleting drafts
If you decide to abandon a draft:
- you can delete it manually from the Video Studio
- all associated draft data is removed
This does not affect existing projects or assets.
Drafts and regeneration
Drafts support safe regeneration.
When you regenerate:
- only affected steps are updated
- unrelated steps remain intact
- the draft is updated automatically
Drafts make iteration predictable and reversible.
Drafts and settings changes
Changing certain settings (such as duration or tone) may:
- require clearing dependent steps
- update the draft accordingly
ReelBot always warns you before clearing anything.
Common misconceptions
- Drafts are not published
- Drafts do not consume video generation limits
- Drafts are not visible to other users
- Drafts do not affect billing
Drafts exist purely to support creation.
The CreatorOps perspective
Drafts are a core CreatorOps feature.
They allow you to:
- think in systems instead of sessions
- batch without pressure
- separate creation from completion
ReelBot treats unfinished work as first-class—not as a failure state.
