Caption Sizes

What are caption sizes?

Caption size controls how large subtitles appear on the video.

In ReelBot, caption size is not cosmetic — it directly affects:

  • readability on mobile
  • visual balance with B-roll
  • viewer retention in short-form content

Caption size is selected in the Video Settings Sidebar.

Available caption sizes

ReelBot currently supports three caption sizes:

Small

  • compact
  • minimal visual presence
  • less screen coverage

Best for:

  • visually dense B-roll
  • cinematic content
  • experienced audiences
  • subtle branding

Medium (default)

  • balanced readability
  • moderate screen presence
  • optimized for most use cases

Best for:

  • general short-form content
  • mixed visuals
  • most creators and brands

This is the recommended default.

Large

  • highly readable
  • strong visual emphasis
  • maximum accessibility

Best for:

  • fast-paced speech
  • mobile-first audiences
  • educational or motivational content
  • viewers watching without sound

How caption size affects layout

Caption size influences:

  • line height
  • number of words per line
  • how captions interact with visuals

Larger captions:

  • reduce words per line
  • increase vertical space usage

Smaller captions:

  • allow more visual room
  • require slower pacing to remain readable

Caption size vs caption timing

Caption size does not affect:

  • timing
  • word highlighting
  • speech synchronization

Timing is controlled by:

  • voiceover
  • speech marks

Size controls presentation, not synchronization.

Changing caption size safely

You can change caption size:

  • at any time
  • without regenerating content
  • without consuming AI credits

Caption size changes are applied at render time.

Caption size and brand presets

If a brand preset is applied:

  • caption size still remains configurable
  • colors and highlighting come from the brand
  • size is controlled independently

This allows flexibility without breaking brand consistency.

Accessibility considerations

Larger captions improve:

  • accessibility
  • comprehension
  • retention for non-native speakers

If your content is:

  • instructional
  • motivational
  • information-dense

Larger captions generally perform better.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • using small captions with fast speech
  • using large captions on visually minimal videos
  • changing caption size mid-batch
  • compensating for pacing issues with size changes

Caption size should match speech rhythm — not fix it.

Best practices

For consistent results:

  • choose one caption size per batch
  • test on a mobile screen
  • favor readability over subtlety
  • save successful setups as templates

Caption size consistency builds familiarity.

The CreatorOps perspective

In CreatorOps, captions are part of the delivery system.

Caption size controls how easily your message is absorbed — not what the message is.

ReelBot treats caption size as a first-class layout decision, not an afterthought.
