Settings Sidebar Overview
What is the Settings Sidebar?
The Settings Sidebar is the control panel that defines how your videos behave — not what they contain.
It centralizes decisions that affect:
- pacing
- tone
- captions
- branding
- consistency across videos
These settings apply across multiple steps in the Video Studio and are intentionally separated from content entry.
Settings vs creation steps
ReelBot makes a clear distinction:
-
Creation steps define content
(topic, script, voice, assets) -
Settings define constraints
(duration, tone, captions, branding)
This separation prevents accidental inconsistencies and makes regeneration predictable.
What lives in the Settings Sidebar
The Settings Sidebar includes:
- Quick Start & Templates
- Duration
- Tone
- Caption Size
- Brand Presets
- Orientation awareness
Each setting is designed to influence multiple steps safely.
When settings apply
Settings:
- apply immediately when selected
- persist across drafts
- are included when saving templates
- are restored when editing projects
They are not reset unless explicitly changed.
Warnings and dependency handling
Some settings are structural.
If you change a setting that impacts existing steps:
- ReelBot shows a warning dialog
- affected steps are listed
- nothing is cleared without confirmation
Examples:
- changing duration affects script and voice
- changing tone affects topic and script
This protects your work.
Settings and drafts
All settings are saved into:
- drafts
- edit sessions
- in-progress projects
This ensures:
- safe interruption
- predictable resume behavior
- no silent resets
Drafts always reflect the last confirmed settings state.
Settings and templates
Templates capture:
- all Settings Sidebar values
- default behavior for new videos
Templates do not store content (topic, script, assets).
This makes templates reusable and safe across ideas and languages.
Settings and brand consistency
Brand-related settings (captions, colors, logos) are managed through Brand Presets.
This allows:
- consistent visual identity
- fast reuse
- separation of branding from content
Brand Presets are documented separately.
What the Settings Sidebar does NOT do
The Settings Sidebar does not:
- generate content
- publish videos
- edit timelines
- override creation steps silently
It defines rules — execution happens elsewhere.
Best practices for using the Settings Sidebar
For best results:
- finalize settings before generating content
- keep one configuration per batch
- save successful setups as templates
- avoid changing settings mid-flow unless necessary
Settings work best when they’re intentional.
The CreatorOps perspective
In CreatorOps, systems scale by locking decisions upstream.
The Settings Sidebar:
- removes repeated choices
- enforces consistency
- makes regeneration safe
- supports batching at scale
It turns decisions into infrastructure.
