Caption Issues
How caption issues usually occur
Most caption-related issues are dependency or regeneration related, not rendering failures.
Captions in ReelBot depend on:
- the script
- the voiceover
- speech marks timing
- selected caption size and brand preset
If one of these changes, captions must realign.
Captions missing from the video
What it means
The generated video does not display captions.
Common causes
- captions disabled in settings
- brand preset without caption styling applied
- voiceover generation failed or was skipped
- generation completed before captions were enabled
What to do
- Confirm captions are enabled in Settings Sidebar
- Verify a voiceover exists (narrated videos only)
- Regenerate the video if captions were enabled after generation
Captions are applied during final render.
Captions appear but timing is incorrect
What it means
Captions do not align with spoken words.
Common causes
- voiceover was regenerated after captions
- script changed without regenerating voiceover
- speech marks not regenerated
- duration changed mid-flow
What to do
- regenerate the voiceover
- regenerate the final video
- ensure no structural settings changed afterward
Caption timing is locked to voice timing.
Word-by-word highlighting not working
What it means
Captions appear, but spoken words are not highlighted.
Common causes
- speech marks not available
- voice does not support speech marks
- captions style overridden by brand preset
- regeneration skipped after voice change
What to do
- Confirm the selected voice supports speech marks
- Regenerate the voiceover
- Regenerate the video
- Check highlight color in Brand Preset
Word-by-word highlighting requires fresh speech marks.
Highlight color looks wrong or invisible
What it means
Highlighted words are hard to see or invisible.
Common causes
- low-contrast color choice
- same color used for base and highlight text
- background visuals overpowering captions
What to do
- adjust highlight color in Brand Preset
- increase caption size
- use higher contrast combinations
Caption visibility is a design responsibility.
Caption size feels wrong
What it means
Captions appear too small, too large, or cramped.
Common causes
- caption size changed after generation
- brand preset overriding caption size
- mismatch between duration and text density
What to do
- confirm caption size in Settings Sidebar
- regenerate the video if size was changed
- reduce script length for short durations
Caption size changes require regeneration.
Captions overflow or feel rushed
What it means
Too many words appear too quickly.
Common causes
- script too long for selected duration
- duration reduced after script generation
- overly dense phrasing
What to do
- increase video duration
- simplify or shorten the script
- regenerate voiceover and video
Pacing starts with duration choice.
Captions not matching the script
What it means
Displayed captions differ from the current script.
Common causes
- script edited after voice generation
- draft restored with older voice
- regeneration skipped
What to do
- regenerate the voiceover
- regenerate the final video
- confirm script is final before generating
Captions always reflect spoken audio.
Captions missing on Cinematic videos
Expected behavior
Cinematic / Music Only videos:
- do not generate captions
- do not include voiceover
This is expected and intentional.
Captions disappeared after changing settings
What it means
Captions were cleared after a setting change.
Why this happens
Changing structural settings triggers an Impacted Steps Warning.
Cleared steps must be regenerated to preserve accuracy.
What to do
- regenerate impacted steps
- review the warning dialog carefully
This behavior protects consistency.
What caption issues do NOT indicate
Caption issues do not mean:
- data loss
- broken projects
- corrupted videos
- failed publishing
They indicate a regeneration or dependency issue.
Best practices to avoid caption issues
- finalize duration before scripting
- finalize script before voice generation
- avoid changing settings late in the flow
- save stable setups as templates
- preview captions before publishing
Captions reward deliberate workflows.
When to contact support
Contact support if:
- captions fail after correct regeneration
- speech marks are missing unexpectedly
- highlighting never appears for supported voices
- behavior contradicts documentation
Include:
- your User ID
- voice used
- caption size
- brand preset details
- exact issue description
The CreatorOps perspective
In CreatorOps, captions are derived output.
They reflect:
- decisions made upstream
- pacing constraints
- voice timing accuracy
ReelBot enforces regeneration to keep captions truthful — not approximate.
